This week we are headed off to the Christian music scene as feature a new band who just released their debut Album in May. The band... Article One is comprised of brothers Nathan and Matt Piché and Dave De Smit. Having grown up in a musical family with both of their parents as music teachers Mathew started playing violin at the age of five and Nathan started playing the piano a year later. Years later they are now using their musical gifts and talents to share the gospel with audiences across the country. The group which says it's music is inspired by U2, The Beatles, their clasical upbringing, as well as Top-40 radio faves like Keith Urban and John Mayer help make their music stand out among the rest of the Christian music artists today. 

How did the band get their name? It was inspired by a speech that Bono during U2’s recent “Vertigo” tour. “Bono was talking about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and what it meant… and we were like ‘Hey, is there any way we can use this?’ We looked [the Declaration] up and article one [of the Declaration] talks about how everyone is born equal and how we should all be treated equally." The group loved the message so it became their name. Their name also reminds them that Jesus calls us to love others.

The band then released their first full length CD. The band which walked away from Kingdom Bound's International Talent Search with the winning title was most recently nominated for New Artist of the Year at the Gospel Music Association Canada's Covenant Music Awards.
