"Lost Highway" Bon Jovi Print E-mail

After having a number one single with their “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” duet that Bon Jovi did with Sugarland last year the band headed to Nashville to cut a new album. It was the first time that a Rock band every had a number one country single. And that single earned the group a Grammy and a People’s Choice award. Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi has always loved the lyrical content of Nashville songwriting. So the band decided to release a whole album in that direction.
Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora headed to Nashville where they had been coming for 20 years to make an album. They had no idea what they were going to end up with while they were there but the finished product is definitely an album folks will be talking about for years to come.
The band was inspired by the Nashville scene. Nashville is the number one music town and they just loved the collaborative efforts and co wrote songs with many different songwriters. They truly enjoyed the fabric of the Nashville community.
We had to find an album that made a statement that didn’t pander or didn’t seem like a carpet bagger. Jon says that they made a Bon Jovi album influenced by Nashville.
The first single that they released is “(You Want To) Make a Memory”. That single is being played on radio stations across the country and was just a preview of what this new album would sound like.
They had artistic freedom and that opened up a floodgate of material. The band worked with Dan Huff who is one of the top country producers. The band split the tracks and did 6 tracks with Dan and 6 tracks with their regular producer.
This album definitely falls into “new country”. It’s rocky, driving, fun and the songs have great messages.  On this album is a duet with Leann Rimes “Til We Ain’t Strangers Anymore and a song with Big & Rich on of today's Hottest Country bands that breaks all the rules in Country music. ”.
Lost Highway is the name of  Nashville record company. Jon said that Lost Highway represented freedom and going on a journey. Richie says hit the gas and not the and Jon says that Lost Highway is wide open road and space and that it represents where they are going.
The songs on this album include:
“Summertime”
“Any Other Day”
“Seat Next To You”
“Everybody’s Broken”
“Til We Ain’t Strangers Anymore”
“The Last Night”
“One Step Closer”
“I Love This Town”

This album hits stores today and is definitely a must have.

'The 41st Annual CMA Awards' to be Broadcast Live November 7 on the ABC Television Network

NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Country Music Association
and ABC Television Network have announced that "The 41st Annual CMA Awards"
will air live Wednesday, Nov. 7 (8:00-11:00 PM/EST) on ABC from Nashville,
Tenn.
"The CMA Awards is 'Country Music's Biggest Night' and is one of the
most highly anticipated events for our industry each year," said CMA Chief
Operating Officer Tammy Genovese. "It's a night to applaud our best and
brightest performers, songwriters, record producers and music video
directors. And we are ready to make this the most outstanding Awards
broadcast to date."
The CMA Awards moved from September to November Sweeps in 2003 and the
placement right before the important holiday retail sales season has been
good for the Country Music industry. 2003 also marked the last time the
Awards were held on Wednesday. In 2007, the CMA Awards moves back to
Wednesday night.
"Some of our highest-rated programs have been on Wednesday and our
partners at ABC support the move based on the strength of the CMA Awards
and the configuration of the fall lineup," Genovese said. "We all feel that
the position at the start of Sweeps on a night that has been successful for
us in the past is the right move for the Awards, the industry, and ABC."
The 2006 CMA Awards, held in Nashville during November Sweeps (Nov. 6),
ranked behind only the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes and GRAMMY Awards
during the 2006-2007 season for awards shows among total viewers. With "The
40th Annual CMA Awards," ABC won Monday evening in both total viewers (16.0
million) and adults 18-49 (5.4/13).
"The CMA Awards recognizes the best of our format. Our artists and
music resonate with people from all walks of life and that's what makes
this 'Country Music's Biggest Night,'" Genovese said.
The eligibility period for the 2007 CMA Awards is July 1, 2006 to June
30, 2007. All voting for "The 41st Annual CMA Awards" will be conducted
online. The first ballot and instructions will be e-mailed June 27 to CMA
members in good standing who are eligible to vote. Voting for the first
ballot closes at 5:00 PM/CT, July 12.
The second ballot will be e-mailed to CMA members Aug. 8. Voting for
the second ballot closes at 5:00 PM/CT, Aug. 22. The final nominees in each
of the 12 categories will be announced in late August. The third and final
ballot will be e-mailed to CMA members Oct. 9. Voting for the CMA Awards
final ballot ends at 5:00 PM/CT, Oct. 23.
The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by the 6,000
industry professional members of CMA, which was the first trade
organization formed to promote an individual genre of music in 1958.
The first "CMA Awards Banquet and Show" was held in 1967. The following
year, the CMA Awards was broadcast on NBC television for the first time --
making it the longest running, annual music awards program on network
television. The show aired on NBC through 1971 and on the CBS Television
Network from 1972 through 2005. The CMA Awards is traditionally one of the
highest-rated award programs of the year.
"The 41st Annual CMA Awards" is a production of the Country Music
Association. Walter C. Miller is the Executive Producer, Robert Deaton is
the Producer. Paul Miller is the Director. The special will be shot in high
definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV
format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.
Premiere Radio Networks is the official radio packager of the CMA
Awards, including a stereo-radio simulcast of the gala event. American
Airlines is the official airline of the 2007 CMA Awards. Chevy: the
Official Ride of Country Music. Additional promotional partners include Crisco(R), Gibson Guitar(R), and Greased Lightning(R) Cleaning Products.

Nurses, Doctors Announce 'Scrubs for SiCKO' Campaign in Conjunction with Debut of Michael Moore's Film to Spark Genuine Healthcare Debate

Unprecedented National Coalition Will Work to Recruit Caregivers in 'SiCKO
Scrubs' to Attend Each Film Premiere Theater
Nurses and Doctors Begin Bus Tour Monday to Build Support for Campaign

CANTON, Mass., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Planning to spark a fundamental
change in national healthcare politics, nurses from Massachusetts and
throughout New England have joined an unprecedented national coalition of
nurses and doctors organizations which today announced plans to rally
around the openings of Michael Moore's "SiCKO" on June 29 to press the
campaign for single-payer healthcare, guaranteeing comprehensive, quality
healthcare with an expanded and improved Medicare for all. The Coalition is
also planning a special preview screening, town hall meeting and press
conference with Michael Moore as part of the national "SiCKO" bus tour,
which will land in Manchester, New Hampshire on Friday, June 22, beginning
at 12 noon.
Calling it "The Scrubs for SiCKO Campaign," organizers will recruit
registered nurses and doctors to every theater in the nation where "SiCKO"
opens to ensure that caregivers -- in SiCKO scrubs -- are in the audience.
The caregivers will distribute information and urge moviegoers to join
the drive for a fundamental overhaul of the nation's dysfunctional
healthcare system -- as is so brilliantly described in "SiCKO". They will
urge the audience to help pass single-payer/Medicare for all types of
legislation such as HR 676 now pending in Congress and several states, and
make it a central focus of the Presidential campaign.
Nurses and doctors are serving as co-hosts of "SiCKO" premiers across
the nation.
Participating groups include the California Nurses Association/National
Nurses Organizing Committee, Physicians for a National Health Program, New
York State Nurses Association, Massachusetts Nurses Association, United
Steelworkers (USW) Health Care Workers Council, Communication Workers of
America, Health Professionals and Allied Employees/AFT, United Nurses and
Allied Professionals (Rhode Island), United Nurses and Allied Professionals
(Rhode Island), and the New England Nurses Association. The Canadian
Federation of Nurses Unions is also working with the coalition.
A delegation of nurses and doctors from across the country will embark
Monday on a tour of East Coast cities to help energize the nurse
grassroots. The tour will mostly take place in a colorfully wrapped bus
encouraging people to see the movie and is being planned in conjunction
with premiers of the film in New York, Washington DC, Chicago and New
Hampshire.
Tour Comes to Manchester New Hampshire Friday, June 22, 2007
12 Noon - Screening of "SiCKO" at Palace Theater in Manlchester, NH
2:15 p.m. - Town Hall Meeting with Moore and RNs, Physicians, Patients
3:30 p.m. - Press Conference with Michael Moore
"SiCKO" profiles a number of Americans with insurance who have been
denied needed care by their insurance company, describes how the
insurance-based healthcare system is structured to keep it that way, and
provides examples of other industrialized nations where insurance companies
do not stand in the way of medical care.
The campaign will highlight the need for reforms that prevent insurance
companies from denying care, and send a strong signal to politicians in
Congress, state capitals, and the Presidential race who are promoting
insurance-based reforms.
HR 676 and similar bills in several state legislatures, including SB
755, the Massachusetts Healthcare Trust bill, will have one public entity
collecting and dispensing all revenues for care delivered by our current,
mostly private hospitals, clinics, and doctors, similar to how Medicare
works. The system is universal, assures comprehensive benefits, guarantees
freedom to choose your provider, and controls costs. It also drastically
curbs administrative costs -- and the waste caused by insurance company
profits and paperwork.
