LAS VEGAS, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Author Matt Davis, affectionately known as "The Truck Driver from Alabama," tells his incredibly moving life story in "How Faith Works" (now available through AuthorHouse), a tribute to one man's belief that faith can do more than move mountains. "How Faith Works" begins with Davis recalling his early years, which were riddled with traumatic ups and downs. Throughout the years, and the author's many trials and tribulations, he was never deterred from his passion and the pursuit of his "God-given purpose: making sure all children are educated." Many of the experiences faced by Davis in his formative years still exist for African-American families and communities today, he says. The author believes that through faith and education, one can overcome difficulties and rise above injustices. He states that education is the key to a successful life and he is often heard saying that he "learned to spell entrepreneur and then became one." Although Davis was plagued throughout the years with financial setbacks as well as numerous medical problems (prostate cancer, lower back surgery, shoulder surgery and eye surgery), his faith remained strong. He planted zucchini seeds in his desert garden in 2003, but saw no results. Suddenly, in 2005, as Davis won his first battle with cancer, the zucchini plant began to grow, and produced one of the largest zucchinis ever seen Las Vegas. It was then Davis realized the value of his faith; he believed that God had sent him a message through the zucchini plant. Davis' faith was tested again over the years as he continued to fight cancer. He knew the road map God had revealed to him through the zucchini would be the one to follow if he was to win this battle. The author's message is simple: One needs patience and faith when tending a garden, and people need to practice the same when dealing with growth and healing, spiritually or physically, in their own lives. Davis was born at the height of the Depression in the small community of Franklin Town, Ala. He was born in a one-room log cabin and was raised, in the absence of his parents, by his Grandmother Mandy. Davis describes himself as being mostly self-educated. In 1995, he enrolled in the University of Nevada's Continuing Education Program, studying Spanish. Unfortunately, he was forced to discontinue his studies due to his serious health problems. He is the founder and director of Let's Go To School Logos, Inc., an educational stationery company. Davis currently resides in North Las Vegas. "How Faith Works" is his first book.
