DOWNHERE HONORED WITH TWO NOMINATIONS FROM GMA CANADA’S 29TH ANNUAL COVENANT AWARDS

downhere Nominated For Group Of The Year And

Rock Song Of The Year

Nashville, TN (September 18, 2007) ----- Christian music’s premiere rock group, downhere, is once again being honored by GMA Canada at the 29th Annual Covenant Awards.  The band was nominated in two categories, Group of the Year and Rock Song of the Year for “Surrender” (co-written by band members, Marc Martel and Jason Germain).  This year’s Covenant Awards will be held Friday, October 26, in Calgary, Alberta

"We are excited to be a part of GMA Canada Week again this year - the Covenant Award nominations were just a bonus,” exclaims Jeremy Thiessen of downhere. “We count it a privilege to be a part of such a fantastic community of artists, who continue to pursue excellence in their craft and serve the Lord in their ministry. I believe the Lord will continue to bless both Canada and the world as a result."

This recent honor is in support of their most recent studio CD on Centricity Records, Wide Eyed & Mystified. Besides the nominated song, “Surrender,” the album also features the radio singles, “The Real Jesus,” and “Better Way.” As an extra bonus this summer, downhere released, Thunder After Lightning, a digital album that features 17 unreleased demos originally written for Wide Eyed & Mystified..  Fans can now hear all of the great music from downhere either on the new project or on their upcoming tour dates, which include the second leg of the Wide Eyed & Mystified tour that begins October 4, 2007.  Also featured on the tour is labelmate, Jason Gray.

downhere hails from Canada and immediately connected with fans and the industry on all three of their album projects, winning a Dove Award in 2003, two Juno Awards in 2001 and 2007, a Vibe Award in 2002, multiple Covenant Awards in 2002 and 2006, and two Prairie Music Awards in 2001.  The band has toured with such artists as SonicFlood and Rebecca St. James, Casting Crowns, and have performed at most major music festivals including, Atlanta Fest, Inside/Out Soul Fest, Kingdom Bound, and the Creation Festivals.  The fourth album from this fan-favorite group is tentatively scheduled for a Fall 2008 release.
