Jeffrey Halford Makes West Coast Sweep - Pulls In Six Award Nominations
Los Angeles Music Awards, ALL ACCESS Magazine & SouthBay Music Awards Tip
Their Hats To Halford
Nashville, TN (October 11, 2007) - San Francisco-based Blues/Roots/Rock
singer/songwriter and guitarist Jeffrey Halford has made a West Coast sweep,
pulling in six award nominations from three different taste making
organizations. Halford has been nominated for: Best Blues Vocal by the Los
Angeles Music Awards (now in its 17th year); Best Songwriter and Best
Americana Band (with the Healers) by ALL ACCESS Magazine, and Best
Songwriter, Best Vocal and Best Blues Band by the (4th annual) SouthBay
Music Awards.
Halford's sixth and current CD, BROKEN CHORD (Shoeless Records), is in its
eighth week in the Top 20 on the Americana Music chart. The powerfully
diverse 10-song disc has received critical acclaim since its release, and
includes classics-in-the-making "Dead Man's Hand," "Chicken Bones Jones,"
and "Rock 'n Fire."
Long a fixture in the West Coast music scene, Halford has been heralded as
an equal of John Fogerty, Randy Newman, Alejandro Escovedo, and John Prine.
HARP Magazine contributor Brian Baker says, "After five critically acclaimed
albums,Jeffrey Halford has little to prove at this point. He's got a crack
band in the Healers, he plays viseral guitar with slinky abandon and writes
rootsy swampy blues songs that sting and soothe equally.
Halford continues
his quality streak with "BROKEN CHORD." Halford can claim numerous Third
Coast fans as well, including Ron Wynn, a reviewer for the Nashville City
Paper, who says: "Singer/songwriter and animated guitarist Jeffrey Halford
's latest release mixes poignant, reflective pieces with intense, powerful
tunes and occasional topical numbers. Halford 's taut vocals and furious
guitar work prove the driving force on all 10 numbers. His merger of blues,
country and soul proves magical."
