Free Concert To Kick Off The City's Bicentennial Festivities
NASHVILLE, TN - 2008 marks the 200th birthday of the city of Greensboro, NC and on Friday, March 28, Howling Music Recording artist Lisa Dames joins in the festivities as she headlines a concert at the NewBridge Bank Park to officially kick off the city's Bicentennial Celebration. The excitement will build throughout the day as the ceremonial torch winds its way through the city to the park. As the torch arrives and enters the grounds, leading 200 members of the Greensboro community who collectively represent 200 years of history, it will light the cauldron officially beginning the celebration and the concert. Then, as the last musical notes from Lisa and her band drift through the night air, the sky will light up with a magnificent fireworks display to end the evening.
Lisa Dames is no stranger to the people of Greensboro, NC. They have seen this wife, mother and Greensboro resident live on stage, on the cover of TriadLiving Magazine, in Yes! Weekly, looking back at them from the record rack at the local Wal-Mart, from the TV screen tuned to CMT or in the carpool lane at her daughters' school.
Music writer John Lewis called her "the most exciting female artist to come out of Nashville for many, many months and her debut album-No One Like Me-is one of the best we've heard this year". In 2007 she covered over 42,000 miles across the country performing shows in support of her debut CD No One Like Me. The first single from the CD "Just Another Day" rose to #56 in the national radio charts and the latest single, "I'd Leave Me" went all the way to #39!
